I first heard of the concept of an Onsen (basically a hot spring/bath) was in the book Walkaway by Cory Doctorow. As a lover of hot baths I was intrigued. Unfortunately, Onsen are not something that is seen in my neck of the woods.
Imagine my surprise when I found out about the upcoming game Onsen Master in the Wholesome Direct Indie Showcase. This showcase has featured many interesting games, some of which will show up here in the coming days.
Onsen Master let’s you run an Onsen. From what I have seen it looks a bit like a Diner Dash kind of game, so I am not sure how deep the management aspect is going to be. I really like the theme but I might pass on the game if it is just frantically running around. The game looks very nice and the music in the trailer is soothing. Just as a warm bath should be.
The short teaser below shows some gameplay. I really like the chucking people into the baths. Nice hands-on management.
Onsen Master is set for release in the Fall of 2020 and can now be wishlisted on Steam.
