Tomorrow, the 2nd of June, both game update 8 and the Bright Harvest DLC of Anno 1800 will be available.
Game Update 8
The game update prepares the game for the DLC and also contains the following, among other changes:
- An item overview within the statistics screen. See what items you have, which are in use and where they are. Several filters can be applied.
- An extra upgrade tier for Trading Posts and Warehouses. More loading ramps and more storage space.
- For the full list, see the release notes.
Bright Harvest DLC
An update with some fixes, some improvements and a few nifty additions is nice, but it isn’t as exciting as new DLC.
The Bright Harvest DLC can be either obtained as part of the Season 2 Pass or as a single DLC.
In Bright Harvest, it is all about the farms. Where you could already heavily improve the efficiency and productivity of your industries, farms lagged behind. Now there are three new gameplay elements to remedy just that:
- Tractor Modules: You can buy one per agricultural farm (crops, not animals). It connects to the main building and will let you build 50% more fields for the farm. You will also need less workforce. If all goes well you need fewer people to work more fields, thus increasing your yield.
- Fuel Station: No building an upgrade and forgetting about it in Anno, those tractors don’t run on air alone. They need fuel. The fuel station produces said fuel, as long as it is being supplied with oil via the railway. No fuel, no tractors, and your farms revert to their old-fashioned state, meaning manual labour and no extra fields.
- Silo Modules: For animal-based farms, a Tractor is less useful. For those, the Silo Modules are added. You can construct one silo per farm and that will boost efficiency. The same rule applies here, the upgrade needs to be maintained to keep functioning. The silo’s need to be filled with crops, grain in the Old World, corn in the New World. The silo’s need to be filled, so expect additional transportation on your island.
